The European Grand Prix 1996 was the 4th round of the 1996 F1 season, and took place at the Nürburgring in Nürburg, Germany, on April 28th.
Jacques Villeneuve won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Michael Schumacher, and David Coulthard completing the podium.
Damon Hill started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 4th.

From 1996 to 2002 the grid order was decided in a single qualifying session which would last 1 hour. During this time each driver had a maximun of 12 laps to set their best time.
This time around, Damon Hill managed to secure the pole position with a time of 1:18.941 seconds, with his teammate Jacques Villeneuve rigth behind him at 0.78 seconds, helping Williams score a one-two and monopolize the first line of the grid.
