James Hunt won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Clay Regazzoni, and Mario Andretti completing the podium.
Ronnie Peterson started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he suffered a loss in oil pressure, and had to retire on lap 52nd.
