These included, Julian Bailey, Stefano Modena, Nelson Piquet, and Derek Warwick, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Luis Pérez-Sala, and Oscar Larrauri, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Philippe Alliot, who had problems with the halfshaft on lap 46, Michele Alboreto, who retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars on lap 45, René Arnoux, and Stefan Johansson, both suffered from an overall car overhating, Maurício Gugelmin, Nigel Mansell, and Nicola Larini, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Riccardo Patrese, and Eddie Cheever, both suffered from electrical problems, Philippe Streiff, and Alessandro Nannini, both suffered a suspension problem, Gerhard Berger, who had a puncture that could not be repaired on lap 6, and Ivan Capelli, who was injured on lap 0.
