These included, Olivier Panis, Ukyo Katayama, and Jan Magnussen, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Mika Salo, Jarno Trulli, and Mika Häkkinen, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Jos Verstappen, and Rubens Barrichello, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Alexander Wurz, who had a transmission problem on lap 35, and Ralf Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve, and Eddie Irvine, all of whom had to retire due to an accident.
