The Canadian Grand Prix 1988 was the 5th round of the 1988 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, on June 12th.

Ayrton Senna won the race from the pole, followed by Alain Prost, and Thierry Boutsen completing the podium.

These included, Andrea de Cesaris, who run out of fuel on lap 66, Philippe Alliot, and Gerhard Berger, both suffered from electrical problems, Piercarlo Ghinzani, Michele Alboreto, Riccardo Patrese, Nigel Mansell, and Stefan Johansson, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Maurício Gugelmin, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 54, Philippe Streiff, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 41, René Arnoux, who had a transmission problem on lap 36, Eddie Cheever, who had a throttle issue on lap 31, Alessandro Nannini, who had issues with the ignition on lap 15, Oscar Larrauri, who experienced problems with the chassis of the car on lap 8, Julian Bailey, who retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars on lap 0, and Alex Caffi, who did not prequalify on lap 0.
