These included, Andrea de Cesaris, Derek Daly, and Eddie Cheever, all of whom run out of fuel, Brian Henton, who did not classify on lap 59, Keke Rosberg, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 52, Raul Boesel, Michele Alboreto, Alain Prost, and Eliseo Salazar, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, René Arnoux, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 28, Niki Lauda, and Roberto Guerrero, both had a problem with the clutch, Jacques Laffite, who had a fuel system failure on lap 8, Bruno Giacomelli, Nigel Mansell, and Geoff Lees, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Jean-Pierre Jarier, who withdrew on lap 0, and Riccardo Paletti, who had the fatal accident all know about and will never forget on lap 0.
