1980 Canadian Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix 1980 was the 13th round of the 1980 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, on September 28th.

Alan Jones won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Carlos Reutemann, and Didier Pironi completing the podium.

Nelson Piquet started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he suffered an engine malfunction, and had to retire on lap 23rd.

These included, Jacques Laffite, who run out of fuel on lap 68, Alain Prost, and Jean-Pierre Jabouille, both suffered a suspension problem, René Arnoux, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 39, Nelson Piquet, Mario Andretti, and Andrea de Cesaris, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Eddie Cheever, who had a fuel system failure on lap 8, Emerson Fittipaldi, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 8, Bruno Giacomelli, who experienced problems with the chassis of the car on lap 7, and Riccardo Patrese, Derek Daly, and Mike Thackwell, all of whom had to retire due to an accident.
