These included, Ayrton Senna, who run out of fuel on lap 58, Johnny Herbert, who suffered a loss in oil pressure on lap 55, Mark Blundell, and Thierry Boutsen, both suffered an engine malfunction, Andrea de Cesaris, and Ivan Capelli, both lost control and spun off the track, Jean Alesi, Aguri Suzuki, and Riccardo Patrese, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Martin Brundle, who had a throttle issue on lap 28, Michele Alboreto, and Éric Bernard, both had a transmission problem, Maurício Gugelmin, who experienced problems with the chassis of the car on lap 24, Roberto Moreno, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 21, and Olivier Grouillard, Nicola Larini, Eric van de Poele, and Pedro Chaves, all of whom did not prequalify.
