1989 British Grand Prix

The British Grand Prix 1989 was the 8th round of the 1989 F1 season, and took place at the Silverstone Circuit in Silverstone, UK, on July 16th.

Alain Prost won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Nigel Mansell, and Alessandro Nannini completing the podium.

Ayrton Senna started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 11th.

These included, Maurício Gugelmin, and Roberto Moreno, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Martin Brundle, Éric Bernard, Philippe Alliot, Stefano Modena, and Andrea de Cesaris, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Gerhard Berger, who saw the car in fire on lap 49, Jonathan Palmer, Jean Alesi, and Ayrton Senna, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Nicola Larini, who on lap 23, Riccardo Patrese, who had a problem with the radiator of the car on lap 19, Ivan Capelli, who had a transmission problem on lap 15, and Stefan Johansson, Alex Caffi, Gregor Foitek, Piercarlo Ghinzani, Yannick Dalmas, Bernd Schneider, Pierre-Henri Raphanel, Aguri Suzuki, and Volker Weidler, all of whom did not prequalify.
