1956 British Grand Prix

The British Grand Prix 1956 was the 6th round of the 1956 F1 season, and took place at the Silverstone Circuit in Silverstone, UK, on July 14th.

Juan Fangio won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Alfonso de Portago, and Jean Behra completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 13th position of the grid.

Stirling Moss started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had problems with an axle, and had to retire on lap 94th.

These included, Stirling Moss, and Hernando da Silva Ramos, both had problems with an axle, Harry Schell, Maurice Trintignant, and Roy Salvadori, all of whom had a fuel system failure, Desmond Titterington, Bruce Halford, Jack Brabham, and Ron Flockhart, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Peter Collins, who suffered a loss in oil pressure on lap 64, Tony Brooks, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 39, Mike Hawthorn, Archie Scott Brown, and José Froilán González, all of whom had a transmission problem, Louis Rosier, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 23, Umberto Maglioli, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 21, and Paul Emery, who had issues with the ignition on lap 12.
