After the fiasco of the two one-lap sessions that the F1 had envisioned for the 2005 seasosn, and that they decided to drop after just 6 races, the rest of the season's qualifyings were disputed on a single on-lap format, as it happened in this race.
This time around, Fernando Alonso managed to secure the pole position with a time of 1:11.988 seconds, 0.157 seconds faster than Juan Pablo Montoya, who completed the first line of the grid.
