These included, Jacques Villeneuve, Jarno Trulli, and Giancarlo Fisichella, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Kimi Räikkönen, who had problems with rim of a wheel on lap 67, Nick Heidfeld, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 61, Felipe Massa, who retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars on lap 41, Allan McNish, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 40, Olivier Panis, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 25, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, and Enrique Bernoldi, both suffered a suspension problem, and Rubens Barrichello, who experienced an hydraulic malfunction on lap 16.
