1984 Brazilian Grand Prix

The Brazilian Grand Prix 1984 was the 1st round of the 1984 F1 season, and took place at the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on March 25th.

Alain Prost won the race after starting in the 4th position, followed by Keke Rosberg, and Elio de Angelis, who originally had the pole position, completing the podium.

The reace did not end without incidents... 20 drivers out of the original 27 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Patrick Tambay, who run out of fuel on lap 59, Derek Warwick, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 51, Andrea de Cesaris, Riccardo Patrese, and Piercarlo Ghinzani, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Niki Lauda, and Jacques Laffite, both suffered from electrical problems, Nigel Mansell, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 35, Nelson Piquet, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 32, Teo Fabi, Johnny Cecotto, and Ayrton Senna, all of whom had a turbo failure, René Arnoux, and Philippe Alliot, both had a battery failure, François Hesnault, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 25, Michele Alboreto, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 14, and Mauro Baldi, who had a problem with the distributor on lap 12.

There was also action outise of the track itself, and the stwearts decided to disqualify 3 drivers.
