1978 Brazilian Grand Prix

The Brazilian Grand Prix 1978 was the 2nd round of the 1978 F1 season, and took place at the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on January 29th.

Carlos Reutemann won the race after starting in the 4th position, followed by Emerson Fittipaldi, and Niki Lauda completing the podium.

Ronnie Peterson started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, and had to retire on lap 15th.

These included, Hector Rebaque, who had physical problems on lap 40, Gilles Villeneuve, Patrick Tambay, and James Hunt, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Hans-Joachim Stuck, who had a fuel system failure on lap 25, Jody Scheckter, Patrick Depailler, and Rupert Keegan, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, Ronnie Peterson, who retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars on lap 15, Danny Ongais, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 13, Brett Lunger, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 11, Lamberto Leoni, who had a transmission problem on lap 0, and Jean-Pierre Jarier, who withdrew on lap 0.
