Carlos Pace won the race after starting in the 6th position, followed by Emerson Fittipaldi, and Jochen Mass completing the podium.

Jean-Pierre Jarier started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had a fuel system failure, and had to retire on lap 32nd.
