1997 Belgian Grand Prix

The Belgian Grand Prix 1997 was the 12th round of the 1997 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Spa, Belgium, on August 24th.

Michael Schumacher won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Giancarlo Fisichella, and Heinz-Harald Frentzen completing the podium.

Jacques Villeneuve started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 5th.

Incidents

There were some incidents during the race, with 7 drivers who didn't manage to cross the finish line.

These included, Jos Verstappen, Ralf Schumacher, David Coulthard, and Tarso Marques, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Rubens Barrichello, who had issues with the steering of the car on lap 8, and Shinji Nakano, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 5.

There was also action outise of the track itself, and the stwearts decided to disqualify Mika Häkkinen at the end of the race.
