1987 Belgian Grand Prix

The Belgian Grand Prix 1987 was the 3rd round of the 1987 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Spa, Belgium, on May 17th.

Alain Prost won the race after starting in the 6th position, followed by Stefan Johansson, and Andrea de Cesaris completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 13th position of the grid.

Nigel Mansell started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had to retire due to an accident, and had to retire on lap 17th.

These included, Teo Fabi, Ivan Capelli, and Gerhard Berger, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Martin Brundle, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 19, Thierry Boutsen, who had a problem witht he wheel bearing on lap 18, Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, and Jonathan Palmer, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, Nelson Piquet, who suffered from problems with the exhaust on lap 11, Alex Caffi, who had a fuel leak on lap 11, Michele Alboreto, who had a transmission problem on lap 9, Christian Danner, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 9, Derek Warwick, who had a problem with the radiator of the car on lap 8, Riccardo Patrese, who had a problem with the clutch on lap 5, Alessandro Nannini, who had a turbo failure on lap 1, and Adrián Campos, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 0.
