Jim Clark won the race with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 13th position of the grid, followed by Graham Hill, who originally had the pole position, and Phil Hill completing the podium.

These included, Trevor Taylor, and Willy Mairesse, both had to retire due to an accident, Richie Ginther, and Tony Maggs, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Bruce McLaren, who had a problem witht he wheel bearing on lap 19, Masten Gregory, Dan Gurney, Tony Marsh, Jackie Lewis, Gerry Ashmore, Roy Salvadori, Heinz Schiller, and Jo Bonnier, all of whom withdrew, Innes Ireland, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 8, and Giancarlo Baghetti, who had issues with the ignition on lap 3.
