These included, Ricardo Zonta, and Jos Verstappen, both suffered an engine malfunction, Ralf Schumacher, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 52, Nick Heidfeld, Jean Alesi, Michael Schumacher, Jarno Trulli, and Giancarlo Fisichella, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Pedro de la Rosa, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 32, and Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who had an oil leak on lap 4.
