The Austrian Grand Prix 1997 was the 14th round of the 1997 F1 season, and took place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, on September 21st.

Jacques Villeneuve won the race from the pole, followed by David Coulthard, and Heinz-Harald Frentzen completing the podium.

These included, Rubens Barrichello, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 64, Jarno Trulli, Jan Magnussen, Shinji Nakano, and Mika Häkkinen, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Mika Salo, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 48, Eddie Irvine, and Jean Alesi, both retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, and Tarso Marques, who could not participate because of a weight rule on lap 0.
