1970 Austrian Grand Prix

The Austrian Grand Prix 1970 was the 9th round of the 1970 F1 season, and took place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, on August 16th.

Jacky Ickx won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Clay Regazzoni, and Rolf Stommelen completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 17th position of the grid.

Jochen Rindt started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he suffered an engine malfunction, and had to retire on lap 21st.

These included, Denny Hulme, John Surtees, Tim Schenken, Jochen Rindt, and François Cevert, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Mario Andretti, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 13, Silvio Moser, who had a problem with the radiator of the car on lap 13, Jackie Stewart, who had a fuel pipe issue on lap 7, and John Miles, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 4.

Qualifying
