These included, Mika Häkkinen, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 76, Michele Alboreto, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 69, Mark Blundell, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 66, Jean-Denis Délétraz, Domenico Schiattarella, and Johnny Herbert, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Mika Salo, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 49, David Brabham, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 49, Alessandro Zanardi, who had a throttle issue on lap 40, Damon Hill, and Michael Schumacher, both retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Ukyo Katayama, and Eddie Irvine, both lost control and spun off the track, and Hideki Noda, and Gianni Morbidelli, both had an oil leak.
