The Australian Grand Prix 1989 was the 16th round of the 1989 F1 season, and took place at the Adelaide Street Circuit in Adelaide, Australia, on November 5th.

Thierry Boutsen won the race after starting in the 5th position, followed by Alessandro Nannini, and Riccardo Patrese completing the podium.

Ayrton Senna started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, and had to retire on lap 13th.
