The Australian Grand Prix 1987 was the 16th round of the 1987 F1 season, and took place at the Adelaide Street Circuit in Adelaide, Australia, on November 15th.

Gerhard Berger won the race from the pole, followed by Michele Alboreto, and Thierry Boutsen completing the podium.

The reace did not end without incidents... 19 drivers out of the original 27 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Andrea de Cesaris, Ivan Capelli, and Philippe Streiff, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Riccardo Patrese, who had an oil leak on lap 76, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Stefan Johansson, and Teo Fabi, all of whom saw the breaks of the car give up, Eddie Cheever, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 53, Adrián Campos, and Derek Warwick, both had a transmission problem, Philippe Alliot, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 45, René Arnoux, and Piercarlo Ghinzani, both had issues with the ignition, Stefano Modena, who had physical problems on lap 31, Satoru Nakajima, who experienced an hydraulic malfunction on lap 22, Martin Brundle, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 18, and Alessandro Nannini, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 0.

There was also action outise of the track itself, and the stwearts decided to disqualify Ayrton Senna.
