1986 Australian Grand Prix

The Australian Grand Prix 1986 was the 16th round of the 1986 F1 season, and took place at the Adelaide Street Circuit in Adelaide, Australia, on October 26th.

Alain Prost won the race after starting in the 4th position, followed by Nelson Piquet, and Stefan Johansson completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 12th position of the grid.

Nigel Mansell started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he experienced issues with a tyre, and had to retire on lap 63rd.

These included, Philippe Streiff, who run out of fuel on lap 80, Patrick Tambay, and Allen Berg, both did not classify, Nigel Mansell, and Keke Rosberg, both experienced issues with a tyre, Riccardo Patrese, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 63, Derek Warwick, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 57, Christian Danner, Thierry Boutsen, Ayrton Senna, Gerhard Berger, and Alan Jones, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Andrea de Cesaris, who suffered from an unidentified mechanical problem on lap 40, Huub Rothengatter, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 29, Alessandro Nannini, and Michele Alboreto, both had to retire due to an accident, and Piercarlo Ghinzani, who had a transmission problem on lap 2.
